The Gallows

I’ve always had an obsession with the most basic of software, the most basic means of existing in a world like ours, and how much I look into the world around me I start to see just how really screwed up our lives are. I’ve spent the better half of my life working on projects, projects that have seen just a glimmer of daylight. I’ve had dreams of where I was able to venture into the great beyond. I have strange thoughts sometimes, some strange beliefs as well. Sure there’s a million better ways to do what I do, but I honestly love the past and love the means of how we use to do things.

First of all I love programming, I love crafting software that can be used either by myself or by however many. I’ve always loved the very thought of the days of programming from about thirty or so years ago. The very concept of programming in basic and making something the size of a few seconds of an MP3 or less than that of a movie file. The solid background with a font in a color that is either relaxing or harmful to the eyes.

The very idea of Hangman was an idea I loved all to well. A game where the life of a fictional person is either going to live or die. This concept in my opinon is more terrifying then any other mechanic in the games today. When I was young I would play the 2600 and wander about either saving the day, accumlating a high score, or worse…dying.

I’m not really that old myself, I was just raised in a very old manner. I can’t really describe it but let me put it this way. Imagine growing up as a child in today’s world and while everyone is playing the latest console or a VR headset your playing Wii. It’s almost like that. Now, you either know what I’m talking about or you don’t and that’s fine but when I was a child in the early ninties it was something magical. Now that I have kids and here I am following my oddball type of dreams I feel like I need to keep a log of my journey’s for my children. So they won’t forget just the type of man that I am. Because let’s face it lifes was too short and anything can happen.

So that’s why I’m doing this! That’s why I’m doing what I can in documenting this voyage into the unknown. Hand formatting every word I can get myself a hold of and keeping everything in a single C++ file. Sure it’ll be slow at times but so be it. It is my nod to the world that I once knew and loved.
